Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a Chinese meditation practice based on qigong. Created in 1992 by Li Hongzhi, it rapidly gained popularity in the next few years. In 1999, however, the Chinese Communist Party banned it and began persecuting its practitioners. There are rumours that Falun Gong practitioners have been murdered by the government and harvested for body parts.

Falun Gong practitioners and refugees have called for an end to the persecution of practitioners in China. The government, however, have denied any such claims. Chinese search engines, such as Baidu, also present false "no results found" screens when searching for Falun Gong, Falun Dafa or the name of Li Hongzhi.
